Beer reviews for 7/24/18

Tonight we have a beer called MURICA from Prairie Artisan Ales from Krebs Oklahoma. The color is a nice gold color with a slight haze that is to be expected with most farmhouse beers. The hop character, has a slight tropical fruit that is similar to pineapple and apple. This from my reading of this beer comes from the Nelson hops. There is also a very distinct flavor of white grapes or white wine, but there is also a sour note from a brett strain is what I assume.

Overall a decent farmhouse ale. 3.5/5

Beer Reviews For Week Of July

Beer: Georgia Brown
Brewery: Sweet Water Brewing Company
Style: American Brown Ale
ABV: 5.8%
IBU: 30

Tasting Notes:
Rich sweet nutty aroma. A distinct raisin notes fill out the smell of the beer. The taste has a very strong taste of raisins as well. As well as a bit of caramel malty and slight hint of chocolate. The finish of this beer has a pleasant coffee mouthfeel. I cant be sure if I taste any real hop characteristics in here, it may be due to this beer being a little over 4 months old and not stored in ideal conditions.

Overall Score: 3/5

Second Beer Review.

Beer Name: Freak Of Nature
Brewery Name: Wicked Weed Brewing
Style: Double IPA
ABV: 8.5%
IBU: 100
Date Botteled: 5/30/16
Date Drank: 6/13/16

Tasting Notes:
The smell gets a strong notes of pine, mild and yet pleasant fruit and floral aromas. Maybe a slight bit of a green onion "Shtank" smell I detect. Some might say its a "Dank" aroma.
 Also some grassy notes.

Very astringent upfront bitter, followed by a mild citrus and pine. The finish seems to just drop off. As I drink the beer get quite a bit of great flavor, then the taste seems to drop off entirely. For the malt a decent and present caramel flavor. This beer though is much more of a hopheads beer rather than a malty balanced IPA fan would be.

First Beer Review.

Beer Name: Rocket Science
Brewery: Fullsteam
Style: American IPA
ABV: 7%
IBU: 80

Tasting Notes:
On the first smell I get quite a bit of fresh orange and orange peel. There is a very bright floral notes that helps bring out the rest of the smells of grapefruit and pine. I do also get a bit of a biscuit and caramel off of the smell as well as a good malt backbone.

For the taste the first sip gives a bright bunch of bright orange floral aromatics that don't over state themselves. Its a very balanced taste that finishes with a pine and pleasant finish. The bitterness is quite good and for any hoppy bitter beer fan they will enjoy Rocket Science but it would be also be a great choice for a new craft beer drinker.

Beer Name: Paycheck Pilsner
Brewery: Fullsteam Brewery
Style: Pilsner
ABV: 4.5%
IBU: 35

Tasting Notes:
On the first smell, there is a corn and straw aroma with a balance of fresh grass. For the flavor the first taste I get is a corn and light malt flavor with a light amount of overall bitterness. Fresh baked bread is present in the malt character of the beer.

The mouthfeel is very smooth and finishes a dry clean and crisp. Overall I think its a fantastic beer for the hotter days of summer and a great true to style Pilsner.
